Habits for Improving Mental Health

Habits for Improving Mental Health

Probably, each of us agrees that with the onset of cold weather or during the change of seasons, our state (both physical and mental) changes significantly...and this is not without reason.

In psychology, there is a concept known as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) - a type of depression that manifests with the change of seasons, most often in autumn and winter. You may notice symptoms such as anxiety, severe fatigue and lack of energy, feelings of irritation and agitation, increased appetite or the opposite lack of it, concentration problems, sadness, and loss of interest in activities, sleep issues (if symptoms persist for more than three weeks, we recommend consulting a psychologist).

During such times, it's very important to devote enough time to self-care, so our team has prepared a list of suggestions or tasks for you to improve your condition:

  • Balanced nutrition: three times a day, containing all necessary elements (proteins, fats, carbohydrates), and healthy snacks (nuts, fruits, snacks with good composition) as needed, which you can find in Roomiess.
  • Daily walks in the fresh air (at least 30 minutes).
  • Light therapy with a daylight lamp.
  • Sports: dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to activities you enjoy: running, yoga, dancing, stretching, etc.
  • If possible, check the levels of iron and vitamin D in the blood, as with the onset of cold weather, we often lose the stock of necessary micronutrients, and of course, stock up on vitamins (upon doctor's consultation).
  • Pay attention to the quality of sleep.
  • Arrange reboot days for yourself as you are comfortable (alone or with friends, in nature or at home under a blanket).
  • Minimize caffeine (in our store you can choose tea to suit your taste that will calm and warm you in the evenings).
  • Talk! If you feel apathy, anxiety, you are not alone, be sure to share your thoughts with loved ones and allow them to support you.

We hope this winter time will be warm and cozy for you!

Embracing and inspiring,

Roomiess
